F1 | Green defends the RP20: “The FIA ​​checked our designs”

Despite the controversies of the tests and the statements released by several team principals, Racing Point he does not believe that any protests will be initiated over the design of the RP20. As stated by Andy green, technical director of the team led by Lawrence Stroll, the Federation has already verified all the project data of the car, reaching the conclusion that there was no exchange of information between Mercedes and Racing Point.

La RP20, we remember, has an extremely similar design to the W10 of last season, an aspect that has led several teams, Renault and McLaren above all, to create more than a few doubts about the actual legality of the technical package, given that the current technical regulation does not allow the transferring data and projects from one team to another.

“We don't really know what others might think and what they might protest about,” Andy Green told motorsport.com. “When the single-seater was presented we spoke with the FIA. and they came to the factory to check the drawings and all the projects.”

“They also took Mercedes' design data for the W10 and compared it to ours,” he continued. “They did a thorough check and nothing showed up. They were happy that the RP20 was designed by us.”

“There may be some similarities with Mercedes, but it's simply similar. It's not the same, so we don't expect any protests,” he concluded.
