F1 | Chinese GP: Alpine for the first time in Q2 with Ocon and Gasly

Saturday apparently positive for theAlpine in China. Or with e gasly they gained access to Q2 for the first time, and tomorrow they will start from thirteenth and fifteenth position respectively on the starting grid. French ex Mercedes he also has an upgrade package on his side that his teammate will mount on Miami, but it seems to be a very small step forward for the team based in Enstone. Among other things, in the Sprint Race this morning, both obtained the exact same position then achieved in qualifying. Could this be the first real step towards a rebirth?

“Overall it was a good day compared to yesterday and in the previous races – Ocon said. We had a good race, gaining four positions in the Sprint. It's our best starting point of the year, and both cars are in Q2, so it's a satisfying session from that point of view. It's a small step forward in terms of performance, but not negligible. Looking at the times, there is still a big gap to fill compared to those ahead of us. Seeing the behavior of the tires in the Sprint, the degradation was quite high but manageable, so hopefully it will give us a chance to fight throughout the race and at the end of the stints. We will examine what strategic options we have at our disposal and try to make progress in tomorrow's Grand Prix."

“The Sprint race was quite eventful, but for us it was an important result – Gasly admitted. We made some aggressive changes to the set-up before qualifying, and we knew it would be a difficult session, as it has been tricky for us to get into Q2 so far this season. So I'm happy that we've managed to put together a clean weekend up to this point, improving the tires between sessions. Tomorrow's race will be very interesting, especially regarding degradation. We will continue to push and try to get the most out of the car tomorrow."
