F1 | Ferrari, Vettel: “We weren't comfortable with the car”

Sebastian Vettel opens his season by taking fourth place in the Australian Grand Prix. The German, winner of the last two editions held at Albert Park in Melbourne and protagonist of a difficult race today, remained off the podium (occupied by the Mercedes of winner Bottas and Hamilton as well as Verstappen's Red Bull-Honda, ed. ) after yesterday's qualifying which saw him achieve the third fastest time.

The gap recorded by his SF90 number 5 to Bottas is heavy, just under a minute. In the second half of the race the German was affected by the performance of the medium tyres, which did not behave as expected, forcing him to manage the wear of the tires until the checkered flag.

Vettel, commenting on the outcome of the race, said: “We weren't comfortable with the car for the entire weekend, but I have to admit that we struggled a lot today. The fact that I was so slow on the track during the race was mainly due to the lack of grip with the medium tire fitted at the pitstop".

The four-time world champion then added: “As a team we still managed to bring home a decent number of points thanks to fourth and fifth place even though these were clearly not the positions we were aiming for just a few weeks ago. In the next few days there will be an opportunity to analyze the data in detail so as to be ready for the next race which is already around the corner. Certainly the analysis of the information we have collected will allow us to understand more but for today this was the best we were able to obtain".
