Sainz finishes 5th, teammate Leclerc only 11th

F1 | Ferrari, the Race Recap of the Spanish GP

F1 GP Spain Ferrari – Cloudy skies, dry asphalt for the start of the Grand Prix. Temperatures: air 23°, track 34°. Carlos Sainz starts from the second spot, on the front row. Charles sprints from the pitlane after the problems in qualifying.

Departure. At the start Carlos held second place, while Charles crossed the finish line in 19th after Lando Norris was forced to pit due to damage to his front wing.

Lap 3. Charles overtakes Logan Sargeant and is 18th. Shortly afterwards Valtteri Bottas stops in the pits and the Monegasque climbs to 17th.

Lap 14. Sainz stops to switch to Medium tires and rejoins eighth ahead of Charles.

Lap 15. Leclerc also stops to switch to Soft tyres.

Lap 19. Carlos overtakes Pierre Gasly and climbs to sixth place.

Lap 25. Lewis Hamilton stops to change tires and Sainz rises to fourth place. On the next lap George Russell does the same and the Spaniard climbs to third.

Half the race. Carlos is third behind Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, Charles is 13th.

Lap 35. Russell passes Carlos at the bottom of the main straight. The Spaniard is fourth.

Lap 37. Pit stop for Lance Stroll and Guanyu Zhou, Leclerc moves up to ninth position.

Lap 39. Stops also for Oscar Piastri and Gasly. Charles seventh.

Lap 42. Carlos pits for Hard tires. Charles does the same for a new Hard train. The Spaniard is sixth, the Monegasque 14th.

Lap 44. Nico Hülkenberg stops to change tires and Charles climbs to 13th. Fernando Alonso also stops and Sainz rises to fifth place.

Lap 47. Sergio Perez stops to change tires and Carlos goes up to fourth. Four laps later, however, the Mexican overtook the Spaniard, dropping him to fifth place. Charles, on the other hand, is 12th

The final. Nothing happens in the top ten anymore. Carlos finishes his home race fifth, while Charles is 11th and gains a position thanks to the penalty given to Yuki Tsunoda for forcing Guanyu Zhou off the track.
