F1 | Ferrari, Sainz is not afraid of starting from the back: "We have nothing to lose"

Carlos Sainz will be forced to make a comeback in the sixteenth round of the season which will take place this Sunday at Istanbul Park. In fact, the Spaniard, as happened to teammate Charles Leclerc in the previous round in Sochi, will mount the fourth engine and will therefore serve penalties starting from the rear. The Ferrari standard bearer, however, does not cause drama, on the contrary he looks at the positive side of the situation which will lead him to use a fresh unit until the end of the season.

"Starting the weekend with a new engine isn't bad – said Sainz, quoted by Marca, in the press conference on Thursday – It means having better performances, it's an update on the team's development so I can't be disappointed but obviously you have to pay the price of starting from the bottom. I have a good history starting from the back in recent years, the objective is to prepare for the race and find the best set-up for the car. It's nice to have a different weekend, we have nothing to lose".

Then speaking about the asphalt of the Turkish track, which came under criticism last year, he said: “We all expect more grip than last year, it will be a bit of a surprise if we find the same conditions as last year because it was very, very difficult to understand why the grip was so low. It will be very interesting, we all expect better grip".
