F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc on the SF71H for the Pirelli tests at Paul Ricard

Charles Leclerc, fresh from his contract with Ferrari, will get on the SF71H for the two-day Pirelli test scheduled for Thursday and Friday at Paul Ricard in Le Castellet, alternating with Sebastian Vettel. The tire manufacturer will test the tires in view of 2019, and in addition to the Maranello team, Mercedes will also be present, which will field Valtteri Bottas for the occasion. The test in question will be carried out on a dry track and therefore with slick tyres, it will be the last important step for Pirelli before the approval by the FIA of the construction of the 2019 tyre.

“In terms of construction we are at the final stage of development – said Mario Isola. The deadline to provide data for new construction and therefore final validation is October 1st. We have tested several constructions during the year, and having the two best teams is important to guarantee the validity of the new tire. Fortunately all the teams have done these tests, so as to be able to guarantee a better job that satisfies everyone, we don't want to build tires suitable only for the top teams."
