F1 | Ferrari, Leclerc: "I would be pleased to be able to maintain fifth place in the World Championship"

Charles Leclerc is intent on closing his 2021 season in the best possible way which currently sees him occupy fifth position in the Drivers' World Championship, ahead of Lando Norris by four points. The Monegasque mainly hopes to have fun in the last act of the season which will take place this weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Overall, Leclerc positively evaluates a championship where Ferrari has found competitiveness which will allow him to conquer, barring cataclysms, third place in the constructors' championship against McLaren.

"The fight with Lando (Norris, ed.) it's still very open – said Leclerc, to the media present in Abu Dhabi on Thursday – Obviously I would be happy to stay fifth, but most of all I'm interested in having fun. It was an intense season, which saw us progress constantly and I believe the chase for third place which materialized in the final part of the year is proof of this.".

Then speaking about the tests, which will take place at Yas Marina next week where the riders will test the 18-inch tires that will come into force from 2022, Leclerc said: “We will have a taste of next season in next week's tests – said the Monegasque – and we can't wait to dive into this new adventure".
