F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “We have faith in Vettel”

The post-Monza days were difficult for Sebastian Vettel, with the Ferrari German subjected to criticism for the spin that saw him (against himself) protagonist at the Ascari chicane during the 6th lap of the Italian Grand Prix.

An episode which was followed by an unsafe return to the track where he touched Lance Stroll's Racing Point, damaging the front wing of his car and subsequently being penalized for the infringement committed.

Mattia Binotto intervened in favor of Vettel and expressed his sympathy towards his standard bearer.

"Other drivers also made mistakes. Now we have to help Sebastian and take care of him – declared the Maranello team principal, quoted by Auto Bild -. It's important that he feels that we and the fans love him, have faith in him and rely on him. Because that's what needs to be done".

FIA president Jean Todt also took Vettel's side: “Sebastian is a four-time world champion. This must not be forgotten. The criticism is exaggerated and unfair. Makes mistakes which can happen when you are under pressure. He is a human being and not a robot".

For Juan Pablo Montoya, Vettel's problems are due to technical and not mental issues: "I think he's not comfortable with anything in the car or the tires, while Charles Leclerc was able to adapt better – said the former Williams and McLaren driver to Autosport -. Vettel has to suffer to go as fast as the other guy. When you don't feel comfortable with the single-seater and you push you make mistakes".
