F1 | Chase Carey: “We don't want Germany to disappear from the calendar”
The German GP could be excluded from the World Championship again from 2019
Next year the German Grand Prix will return to the Formula 1 World Championship calendar: after being excluded from the current championship, Hockenheim will be reinstated from the 2018 season. It could, however, be an instant return: in fact, in view of the following years, no agreement has yet been signed either for Hockenheim or for Nurburgring. Chase carey, number one of Liberty Media, however, reassured fans of his desire not to miss the German Grand Prix: “Germany is a very important country. The growth of America and Asia is clear, but maintaining the fundamentals of the sport is clearly the main priority and the foundation of the sport is in Western Europe”.
"Germany is the largest and most prosperous country in Western Europe and, moreover, it has a great sporting history” – continued Carey. “The current world champion (Rosberg, ed.) He's German, our world constructors' champion (Mercedes, ed.) it's German. We would like to build something on what we already have in Germany, having an event would be very important. We need to see where and how we can do it.".
