F1 | Aston Martin, Vettel risks too much: "Slick tires couldn't be used"

It went badly for Sebastian Vettel, eighteenth in the Turkish Grand Prix. The German risked using the medium compound slick tires at the most inopportune moment, and this made him miss out on the points, given that he was in tenth place. A move that therefore cost a high price, in an attempt to straighten out a race that had been rather anonymous up to that point.

“Today the bet didn't pay off – Seb said. Something inside me told me to try the dry tires, because on the intermediates there was nothing left to take, and I thought that the slicks could work despite the damp track. As soon as I came out of the pits I realized it was the wrong decision, there was no grip to make it work. All this probably cost us a point or two because we were in the top ten. I was surprised how the asphalt took so long to dry, it was similar to last year in this respect."
