No penalty for the Canadian after the investigation; Fernando Alonso, however, was forced to retire

F1 | Aston Martin, Stroll flies from the pit lane to the points zone

Lance stroll takes his personal revenge ad Austin. The start of the weekendAston Martin it was practically disastrous: the new aerodynamic package was not tested enough, and both Stroll and Fernando Alonso they found themselves relegated to the bottom of the table in all sessions. The parc fermé - given the format of the Sprint Race - did not help Aston Martin's cause, which therefore decided to change the set-up for both cars, condemning themselves to start from the pit lane. It's a shame that Stroll "forgot" this detail: the Canadian actually went to position himself on the grid, forcing the mechanics to bring the AMR23 number 18 in the pit lane. The incident will be examined post-race, the only flaw in a performance that brings Stroll back into the points, in ninth position - the Canadian advances to seventh position after the disqualification of Hamilton and Leclerc. After weeks of speculation Lance sees the light at the end of the tunnel – the last time in the points is a Hot Tub in Belgium.

“Finishing in ninth position after starting from the pit lane is a more than positive result, especially considering the first performances here at COTA. It's nice to be back in the points after some difficult races – admitted Lance – the changes made to the set-up to improve performance have put us back on track; we were definitely more competitive today. I had good grip in the corners, especially when we hit the mediums, and we managed to do some good overtaking in turn 12. We will work hard for the next round in Mexico."

Completely different outcome, however, for Fernando Alonso: the Asturian also starts from the pit lane, following the set-up change - the team refits the old floor on his car. Alonso quickly moved into the points together with his teammate, taking the favor of the camera with the sound of overtaking. A few laps from the end, however, it was the surface that betrayed him and Fernando was forced to return to the pit lane to retire. It's the first training camp of the season for him.

“It was a great comeback race for us, the AMR23 had much more pace. Our ambition was to finish in the points, despite starting from the pit lane, but unfortunately we had to retire due to some damage. It's a shame, we were quite competitive in the race. However, we have collected various useful data to compare the two cars: studying them will be fundamental to better face the next races."
