F1 | Alpine, problems for Alonso: “Once again in my car”
The car remains planted on the grid: "I do everything, but the car keeps breaking"
Black Saturday for Fernando Alonso. In Friday's qualifying the Asturian was only able to get into ninth position due to damage sustained to the floor at the start of Q3 - which later became eighth with the penalty inflicted on Sergio Perez. Once the damage was repaired, his A522 went back to being the same as it always was, showing a glow of encouragement in the last free practice session, where Alonso set the fourth best time. At the start of the Sprint Race, however, all the cars leave for the formation lap, while the Alpine number fourteen is stopped on the stand on the stand, still with the tyrewarmers. The mechanics immediately take the car back to the pit lane, where they try to prepare it for the departure from the pit lane, and Zhou's problem buys the French team time for an additional formation lap. Despite this, nothing can be done: Alonso's car is brought back to the garage. Fernando will be forced to start from last position tomorrow.
"Once again on my car, of course, as always – Alonso immediately said after the Sprint – the car didn't start, there was a problem with the battery. The whole system was off, we tried to start it with an external battery, but it didn't work, so the problem is deeper. We hope to have it resolved by tomorrow. I think this is one of my best seasons in terms of performance, I am very comfortable with the car, I can always push, there is a good feeling, but I have no points in the championship because the car always presents new problems. I can't do much, I will always try to do my best".
