F1 | Alonso replies to Rosberg: “I'm proud of my career”
The Spaniard responds to his ex-colleague's criticism: "I've always made logical choices, but I don't have a crystal ball"
Nico Rosberg leads, Fernando Alonso he replies. The 2016 world champion, in recent days, had accused the Spaniard of lacking clarity in choosing the right projects, using these words: “Here we are not talking about luck or bad luck, but about knowing how to choose what to do. It's not bad luck when you choose to go to the wrong team because you made that same choice. Fernando made some mistakes in this regard and I think he is paying the consequences.". The McLaren driver's reply didn't take long to arrive: "I don't regret any of the decisions I've made. I've often said it: every time I chose the best option, the most logical thing. Unfortunately I don't have a crystal ball." – said the two-time world champion.
"I am proud to have raced for Renault, McLaren and Ferrari" – continued Alonso. “When I signed for these teams, no one criticized my choice or told me it was a bad decision. In hindsight, it's different, but I'm proud of the choices I made.".
Finally, Alonso compared his situation to that of Michael Schumacher in Mercedes in the three-year period 2010-2012 (when he returned to Formula 1 after announcing his retirement four years earlier) and to that of Lewis Hamilton, again with the Silver Arrows, in 2013: “What happened to me is similar to what happened to Michael Schumacher in Mercedes, where things didn't go too well for him. Or even Lewis Hamilton, who struggled in his first year at Mercedes.".
