F1 | Alfa Romeo, encouraging signs for Bottas and Zhou after free practice in Monaco

F1 GP Monaco Alfa Romeo – Encouraging signs for Valtteri Bottas e Guanyu-Zhou at the end of the first two free practice sessions valid for the Monaco Grand Prix, the sixth round of the 2023 Formula 1 world championship. 8th and 13th respectively, the Biscione drivers managed to gather some good information from the updates installed on the C43, also showing a great feeling with the car on a complex track like that of Monte Carlo. An important condition that will put them forward for a leading role for top ten finishes, both in qualifying and in the race.

“It was a productive day and it was what we needed to test our new updates,” said the Finnish driver. “The positive difference was noticeable right from the first laps, even if we have to work to refine everything a little and to extract the most from the package. These are promising signs in any case, especially in such an uncertain condition. The center of the group is very tight and every small variation in terms of performance can change the balance in play. In any case, the day was interesting."

“The track improved lap after lap and the confidence went hand in hand with this condition. Traffic will be a problem, but today we managed to manage it quite well. Now it will be important to find maximum performance in qualifying conditions. We can compete for it, but only if we manage to take another step forward", continued the Biscione standard bearer.

Here are Zhou's impressions: “In general it was a promising day. FP1 wasn't a smooth session and it was difficult to find the right rhythm, but in the second we managed to take a step forward. First impressions of the package have been positive, but we are still at the beginning and I feel that there is still some margin to be extracted from the car. It seems like we can pick up the thread that was broken in Miami, which is good. We need to secure a good position for qualifying. We want and can fight for the points, also because we have the potential to battle in the fray."
