“I have the feeling that I can still evolve as a driver and become better”. With these words, Marcus Ericsson he faces the most important season of his career: that of redemption. In his first four years in Formula 1, the 27-year-old Swede left no indelible mark: after an initial season of Caterham, concluded in blank, Ericsson landed in Clean where, in three years, he collected a paltry nine points, all in the 2015 season. The arrival ofAlfa Romeo it could allow him, for the first time in his career, to race a competitive car and shed the label of "pay-driver".

Interviewed by Motorsport.com, the native of Kumla explained the reasons that delayed his definitive explosion in Formula 1: “When you run for a low-ranking team, It's hard to impress people and show what you are capable of. Having a great weekend can only mean qualifying ahead of your teammate. Furthermore, if we look at half the championship for example (in 2017 with Sauber, ed.), in terms of performance we were really far from everyone else. Only with a top ten car will I be able to assert myself. I've been working towards this for a long time and this is what I need for the next stage".
