Kimi Raikkonen ranked fifteenth after free practice in Losail. Iceman had never raced in Qatar, like almost all of his colleagues, and was positively surprised by the environmental and asphalt conditions, usually more complicated in his opinion in these parts, comparing the difficulties found in Bahrain over the years especially during the first two free practice sessions.

“The track conditions were not bad, in fact better than we expected – Kimi admitted. We've had much worse situations in the past, see Bahrain, where the wind and dust made things really difficult on the various race Fridays, so it went well. I did a good number of laps, we hope to use the data as best we can to improve for tomorrow. Qualifying will be very tight, we'll see what we can do in the decisive moment."
