F1 | Leclerc: “My new project will not be a distraction from Formula 1”

Charles Leclerc wanted to clarify that he will remain involved in Formula 1, despite the recent launch in the ice cream industry. There was talk of the Monegasque wanting to open his own ice cream shop in Monaco and the initiative then took hold. Now, in collaboration with the Italian brand Grom and its manager Nicolas Todt, Leclerc has launched its own low-calorie ice cream brand “LEC”.

“Initially I had the idea of opening a shop in Monte Carlo but then I met Federico Grom thanks to some mutual acquaintances and we thought about doing much bigger things”, commented the Ferrari driver to Deejay Gioca Italia.

This launch echoes Lewis Hamilton's project who recently launched Almave, a non-alcoholic blue agave distillate.

“We were talking about it recently - commented the Monegasque - he has this new Almave project of his which is very nice because he has developed a new drink while I'm focusing on ice cream. So for sure, when he arrives in Ferrari, we will celebrate with my ice cream and his drink. I'm already working on new flavors for 2025, but in the meantime we aim to also arrive in French supermarkets by the end of this year."

Leclerc's new entrepreneurial activity has already sparked criticism. According to the most sceptical, in fact, it is not the right time given that he is not achieving important results on the track unlike his teammate, Carlos Sainz, who will leave Ferrari at the end of the season to make way for Hamilton.

“No one likes to come second but I would never have dived into this project alone because I don't have much time available. 99% of my life is Formula 1 and my priority is to be the best Formula 1 driver. I dedicate everything I have to F1."
