Since the Spanish GP the FIA has adopted more restrictive controls on flow meters

The most restrictive controls should have started from Chinese Grand Prix, then the move decided for the fourth round of the season, the Spanish Grand Prix, which will be held at Montmelò on May 10th. But let's take a step back: despite the FIA directive on consumption control, he left everyone was shocked, between teams and enthusiasts. From the Chinese Grand Prix, precisely, the International Federation should not have relied exclusively on the flow meter but would have adopted appropriate sensors of pressure at different points of the motor supply duct in order to be able to evaluate how the inlet pressure of the flow meter must be equal to the outlet pressure.

The real problem with the tank is that there is a path between the flow meter and the injection point It has no controls and, at least theoretically, it is possible to accumulate petrol after the sensor check, to pump it when more power is needed.

First and foremost, Ferrari and Mercedes ended up in the eye of the storm who, again according to some rumors, had found a way to circumvent the rule of being able to take on board Formula 1 cars a maximum of well-known 100 chili of fuel. And here is the reason for the more severe controls by the International Federation: it is a safe bet that at Montmelò the ones holding the spotlight, rather than the updates that will bring the Formula 1 cars on the track, will be the restrictive methods of the FIA for fuel flow control.
