Toro Rosso: a good first day in Jerez for Ricciardo

The STR8 proved to be reliable

After revealing the new Toro Rosso car in the pitlane yesterday, Daniel Ricciardo brought the STR8 to its debut today, on the first day of testing in Jerez. After the usual rounds of installation, the team began the program focused on checking the systems, without looking at performance.

Inevitably, however, the engineers couldn't resist checking the new car's aerodynamic data! The SRT8 was reliable completing 70 laps. Ricciardo will also drive tomorrow before making way for Jean-Eric Vergne in the final two days.

“It's nice to be back behind the wheel of a Formula 1,” said Ricciardo. “It was a long day with 70 laps under our belt, however, the important thing is that the car was reliable, a positive aspect and we carried out our planned program for today. You can't look at performance on day one, when reliability and comfort are more important and, on that front, my seat and riding position was good. So this was the first day of operations that were relatively simple, but also important.”
