Team Lotus: Chandhok will only race in the first free practice session in India

Karun chandhok will not race in the Indian Grand Prix this weekend. The Team lotus confirmed this decision, stating that the Indian will only do the first free practice session.

It was thought that Jarno Trulli would step aside for the Indian, but you can read the reason below.

“I'm very happy to be able to compete in FP1 in front of my home crowd, but I'm also disappointed by the fact that I won't be able to race on Sunday. I accept the team's decision which preferred to opt for the experience and talent of Jarno and Hekki” said Chandhok.

“This team is still young and still needs to grow and they need to establish themselves in this sport. There are tough decisions to make and in this case the choice was very tough, but it's not just about me."

“I think I have grown as a driver during this year and I will do my best to help the team also during this weekend”.

The statement of Tony Fernandes was: “From a team point of view, our goal is to maintain the performance level of the last two races, although I think there were fans who also came to see Karun on track on Sunday, but we had to choose in the interests of the team".

“Beyond the emotions, we were aware that he had little time available to be in the car during this season, also due to the weather ruining some free practice sessions. He therefore didn't have the best preparation for this race: we made the difficult decision not to put him on the track for the rest of the weekend."
