Schumi blames Bruno Senna for the accident
The Williams driver defends himself: "Schumi was too close"
The accident involving Michael Schumacher and Bruno Senna has left consequences and not only from a regulatory point of view: the German from Mercedes is very angry at the maneuver of the Brazilian from Williams, which led to the collision at the end of the main straight on lap 14 of the Spanish GP.
“I want the commissioners to clarify what happened”, Schumi explained to TV after the accident. “Senna moved to the right, as he should, but then he widened to the left where I was passing first, abruptly. I was just behind him and I couldn't avoid his move. So it was all very dangerous. We had the chance to score good points today, so it's doubly frustrating. I have to say I don't know what he was trying to prove, but in Brazil last year he rammed me and today he cut me off. A lap earlier he had had an accident with Grosjean, so I know what was going through his mind.", explained the seven-time world champion, who also called the grandson of the great Ayrton an idiot over the radio.
From the images, however, you can see Senna making his trajectory, defending himself on the right and then positioning himself on the left to set the first corner: Schumi appears to be too close, as the Williams driver also explains. “Everyone thinks about their own race and accidents can happen”, Senna told the BBC. “I defended myself, he probably judged me to be further away: he arrived with good speed on the straight while I had to brake. When I saw it moving I thought it would move inwards so I moved a little to the left, then I got rear-ended.", concluded Senna.
