Schumacher downplays his chances of victory in Valencia

Michael Schumacher considers the predictions of those who see him as a possible winner at this weekend's European GP in Valencia to be too optimistic. The seven-time world champion was indicated as one of the favorites by the Pirelli motorsport manager following the German's excellent qualifying performance in Monaco.

“You probably saw what happened in Montreal,” Schumacher said. “On paper it was a good circuit for us but in the end the prediction wasn't accurate. So Valencia is a question mark."

“I don't think it's easy to make predictions this year. And so I'm a little reluctant to say that we're in a solid position here. We hope to be in good shape, but aiming for victory would be too optimistic from my point of view given what we saw in Canada."

“The nature of the circuit allows for good races” he added. “We have long straights, we have DRS and KERS which should allow us to overtake. And in addition the uncertainty of 2012 that you may like or not… who can say how it will go?”.
