Sauber: Perez and Kobayashi penalized by yellow flags in Q2

Dall'Ara: "Our two drivers were unlucky. We can recover in the race"

Sauber: Perez and Kobayashi penalized by yellow flags in Q2

At Sauber they are adamant that qualifying in the middle of the grid for the Korean Grand Prix is only due to the yellow flags that slowed Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi in Q2, rather than a lack of pace in the car.

Perez and Kobayashi will start the Grand Prix from 12th and 13th position respectively in Yeongam. They were among the drivers most affected when a problem with Daniel Ricciardo's Toro Rosso required yellow flags at the end of Q2.

“I could have easily been five tenths faster but I had to slow down when the yellow flags came out,” Kobayashi said. “I'm very disappointed, especially because we had improved the car for Q2.”

Giampaolo Dall'Ara, Head of Track Engineering, said the results do not reflect the real situation, the team made enormous progress in free practice and have the pace to recover in Sunday's race.

“There's no doubt they were unlucky today with the yellow flags, but we have to take what's positive about today,” he said.

“After having some problems yesterday, we managed to improve the set-up significantly during the night and both our drivers were very strong.”

“I believe the car's performance is superior to what the results suggest, so we have every reason to be positive about the race.”
