Philippe Bianchi: “Jules shakes his parents' hands”

The 25-year-old Frenchman is stable: his organs function independently but he is still in a coma

Philippe Bianchi: “Jules shakes his parents' hands”

I have passed over six months from the terrible accident involving the unfortunate Jules Bianchi last October 5th during the Japanese Grand Prix. The transalpine driver, who violently impacted a crane that was moving the car on Sutil's escape route, was hospitalized and after an initial period of hospitalization at the Yokkaichi facilities before the transfer to Nice. Over the weekend, Philippe Bianchi, father of the 25-year-old, gave an interview to Nice-Matin where he spoke about the young man's state of health: "From a medical point of view his conditions they are stable, there was no worsening. It is quite autonomous. All his organs function normally, without outside help, but for the moment he is always in a coma, unconscious".

Yet, Jules' family continues to hope: “What we are experiencing now, it's encouraging. When we arrived in Yokkaichi, there were no positive signs, they had taken away all hope – continued Philippe Bianchi – he is a fighter, he is doing a great job, he is a bit as if he were running a marathon. Day after day, when we are next to him, we see that little things change, at certain moments he is more active, he shakes our hands. It's hard to know if they are simply reflexes or a real reaction."

Philippe did not hide all his disappointment with the investigations into his son's accident, which were carried out by the FIA: “It was a matter of an internal investigation among those who were involved in the matter – he commented dryly – Regarding this, I have nothing new to say. If someone is responsible one day, He will have to pay. Frankly, I'm still too shaken to talk about it, I want to focus my energy on my son."

Hard to say when and if the 25-year-old will fully awaken. The family made it known that they will issue a press release "when there is news" and, in the meantime, they thanked all the fans who have not forgotten their boy: "Feeling the support of all these people who pray for him is for us a great motivation, I'm sure Jules hears you and I want to thank everyone once again,” he concluded.
