Jerome D'Ambrosio will lead Virgin in free practice
GP2 driver Jerome D'Ambrosio will drive for Virgin Racing during first free practice in four of the five remaining grands prix in place of Lucas di Grassi.
The confirmation comes from the entourage of the twenty-four year old driver who aims to have a wheel in the top category in 2011 stating that he has already achieved a substantial budget.
Virgin confirms its interest in the driver but underlines that the change with Di Grassi in Friday's free practice is for evaluation purposes only. Graeme Lowdon, team chief executive: “We have a contract with Glock for another two years and an option on Di Grassi's services for the next. Both drivers did an exceptional job for us in the debut season. But we at Virgin are always looking for new talent."
D'Ambrosio will have Virgin at his disposal in the races in Singapore, Korea, Japan and Brazil and should also participate as a rookie driver in the end-of-season tests scheduled for Abu Dhabi. The driver: “My final goal has always been to race in Formula One and I am happy to have taken a step that can bring me closer to this reality."
