Jaime Alguersuari: “Last year too there were problems at Toro Rosso”

After mid-season 2012, Jaime Algersuari he did not hold back in critical statements towards his former team, the Toro Rosso.

The ownership team of Red Bull, he fired Alguersuari and against all odds Buemi at the end of last season, to replace them with rookies Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.

However, this change does not seem to have paid off as at the halfway point of the season the two rookies only scored 6 points.

Furthermore, the Faenza-based team could soon give up their long-time technical chief Giorgio Ascanelli due to numerous disagreements with the team management.

Spanish newspaper AS asked Alguersuari for comments about his old team.

“I honestly don't care, it's a thing of the past now and I'm only looking to the future.”

“All I can say is that while I was there last year we had a lot of problems with the way we did things, however it's not my problem anymore,” said the Spaniard.

“Now I have to focus on the future and find a serious project, which is something they didn't give me,” added the 22-year-old.

Despite the various problems, however, it seems that Toro Rosso and Red Bull will give another chance in 2013 to the two rookies Ricciardo and Vergne.

“Daniel is doing a great job. He is a very gifted pilot” he declared last month team principal of Toro Rosso, Franz Tost.

“Jean-Eric is new to the world of F1, so many circuits are unknown to him. I think he's a very gifted rider too, I have high regard for him. He is doing a great job improving from race to race” added Tost.

“If we provide a good car to the drivers they will show us excellent performances” concluded the Austrian, thus making a small admission of guilt.
