Ferrari surrenders to Mercedes: “Impossible to fight for the title”

Disappointment for Ferrari at Montmelò but the Team Principal refused to assign specific blame

Ferrari surrenders to Mercedes: “Impossible to fight for the title”

Despite the positive start to the season, Ferrari, after the Spanish Grand Prix, he can't smile. If the Prancing Horse was convinced of bringing to the track, for the first European race, some updates that could have allowed it to fight, almost on equal terms, with Mercedes, the efforts seem to have been nullified. In Spain, the Silver Arrows dominated, so much so that, instead of being in 2015, it clearly seemed like we had returned to a year ago.

At Montmelò a Ferrari, that of Sebastian Vettel, reached the podium, but with a gap of 45 seconds by the winner of the race, Nico Rosberg. The SF15-T has not shown that it can worry Mercedes in the slightest, so much so that the Red Team Principal, Maurizio Arrivabene, had to reduce the fans' hopes: "Fighting for the World Championship it's too much, I said that we could win races and this can be done by working hard – he continued – I don't care that Seb reached the podium in Spain, what interests me is the gap from his rivals”.

Arrivabene refused to place specific blame for this setback, but he is sure that Maranello we will go back to work hard to recover from Mercedes: “I don't want to point the finger at the speed, the aerodynamics or the engine. We need calm to analyze the situation and take future decisions – he continued – We have to improve. It's clear that in the last sector we lost half a second compared to Mercedes, but now we need to sit down to understand how to extract all the potential from the current package."
