F1 | The helmet used by Michael Schumacher in the 2005 French GP is up for auction

The helmet of Michael Schumacher used in the 2005 French Grand Prix will end up at auction. In fact the RM Sotheby's will organize an event, scheduled for Wednesday 6 February next, to sell this memorabilia worn by the German champion who finished on the podium (behind Kimi Raikkonen's McLaren and winner Fernando Alonso's Renault, ed.) the race held on the Magny-Cours track of 3 July 2005.

Schumi's authentic signature also makes this piece unique. The price of the helmet, according to what we learn from the Canadian auction house itself, will fluctuate between 40.000 and 50.000 euros.

"Schurberth RF1 helmet made of carbon fibre, this helmet was worn by seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher during his season with Ferrari in 2005. Worn most notably in the 2005 French Grand Prix where he finished third in the F2005, the helmet shows signs of wear and the drinking hole has been covered by a sticker. It was also signed by Michael with a marker on the top, which is rare as most helmets are signed on the visor. Accompanied by a lifetime certificate from the Collectors Studio, it deserves a place of honor in any collection”, we read in the note published by RM Sotheby's on its website.

2005 represented a stingy year of satisfaction for Schumacher (and for Ferrari itself) who only achieved one pole position and one victory, the latter obtained in Indianapolis where only single-seaters with Bridgestone tires took part.

In the same day Ayrton Senna's helmet will also be auctioned off, used by the late Brazilian driver during the 1990 season.
