F1 | Changes in sight for the Monte Carlo route: a 2 billion project underway
The area subjected to changes should be the one before entering the tunnel
By 2025 the layout of the historic route of Montecarlo may undergo small variations. Christian Sylt, economics journalist for the US magazine Forbes, revealed the presence of a 2 billion euro project aimed at recovering 25 hectares of land from the Mediterranean: the area subject to mutation should be curve 8, i.e. the one before upon entry into tunnel.
Il Prince Albert of Monaco confirmed its intention to make some changes to the city route of Monte Carlo: “I'm not necessarily saying it's going to happen, but at some point we're going to put our heads together and say, 'How can we not only make this better, but also make it a little more exciting, maybe changing the layout slightly?'. We have not gone beyond this simple statement of an idea, something that is in our minds.".
Furthermore, Prince Albert guaranteed that the Monaco Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar for a long time to come: “It's a part of the history of the sport, I can't imagine a Formula 1 season without the Monaco Grand Prix”.
