F1 | Ferrari, Binotto: “It's not by cutting heads that you make a car go faster”

After the first three races of the season, it's time to take stock at Ferrari, which clearly cannot be satisfied with the performance of the SF1000 in this first part of the calendar. The latest addition to Maranello has shown not only that it is not up to par with its most popular rivals, such as Mercedes, but that it also has difficulty competing against opponents that until last year characterized the midfield, such as Racing Point, McLaren and Renault.

In the meetings dedicated to the analysis of the weekend of the Hungarian Grand Prix, where Ferrari finished in sixth place with Sebastian Vettel and out of the points with Charles Leclerc, Mattia Binotto spoke about the project and what will be done in the short term long period to return to the fight in the top positions: "After three races it is clear that we find ourselves in a worse situation than our expectations and we must react without any delay" - declared the Team Principal of Scuderia Ferrari in Ferrari .com -. “It is the overall design of the car that needs to be reviewed, whilst being aware of the existing regulatory limits. I know well that in Formula 1 there is no magic wand but we must change gear to reverse this trend, in the short and long term. If necessary, we must also review the organization to improve and strengthen the working method where it is most needed. This is why we must as a team understand the dynamics that led us to the current situation.”

A path that will be long and not without difficulties, but which is fully supported by the company, as declared by Binotto himself, who wanted to reiterate his trust in his engineers: "Hard words from Binotto, who however cares to underline one aspect: “I have faith in the people who work at GeS: we have started a path that must lead us to reopen a winning cycle. It will be long but the entire company is aware of it and supports this vision. This is why some news that you read around makes me smile: cutting off heads doesn't make a car go faster...", the team principal then added.
