Alonso and Raikkonen: A story yet to be written

Kimi Raikkonen and Fernando Alonso chose 7 and 14 as their race numbers. They are two numbers that have already won in Formula 1 with Ferrari but whose glories need to be revived.

7 made his debut in a Cavallino single-seater in the 1953 British GP in Luigi Villoresi's 500. The Italian driver started sixth on the grid but retired due to a technical problem while he was third. On the 14th he made his debut on the Ferrari 125 of British private driver Peter Whitehead who started last in the 1950 French GP but finished in third place. In 36 participations, Ferrari with the number 7 won twice, both with John Surtees, in the 1963 and 1964 German GPs, also obtaining four second places, five thirds and achieving a further eleven placings in the points. It has therefore been exactly 50 years since he has won, Kimi has the task of breaking his fast. There have been eight drivers who have driven the Ferrari number 7, the one who has brought it on the track the most times so far is Felipe Massa, who showed it off on 19 occasions in the 2010 season. The number 14 instead has 23 participations with just one victory , the one signed by Peter Collins in the 1956 French GP. Many names brought him to the track: 18 (also because often in the 14s the organizers assigned only even numbers to entrants). The most faithful to the 2014, presumably until the 1958 Spanish GP, remains the 14 world champion Mike Hawthorn who had it on the bodywork four times, the last of which in the Italian GP of that magical year (in Monza it was second). For number 1970, four second places, a third and three other finishes in the points are also worth mentioning. The last time a Ferrari driver wore this number dates back to 312, precisely at the Austrian GP when Ignazio Giunti, at the wheel of the XNUMX B, finished seventh.
