Allison: “Ferrari wants to dominate F1 again”

Ferrari technical director James Allison said the Maranello team "wants to return to dominance in F1" after another season without championship titles. Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull won their fourth consecutive drivers' and constructors' title in 2013, while Fernando Alonso finished second in the drivers' championship and Ferrari third in the constructors' championship. Allison, who returned to Ferrari after designing the Lotus in recent seasons, declared that the Cavallino really wants to return to being the point of reference in F1.

“I found a team that was hungry and determined to return to the top step of the podium in every race and in the championship,” Allison told Sky. “It's a team that is optimistic about the future and aims to dominate F1 again.”

According to Allison, this is a process that will take time, however a lot of work has already been done: “F1 is not a sport with quick fixes. It's an incredibly difficult organization in every single aspect and you need to fix every aspect to win a world championship. The team is eliminating every weak point. It's a job that will continue and it's a job that will never stop even when we get back to the front. We have never hidden the fact that aerodynamics is a field in which we have not done our best by exploiting all aspects of the rules as our opponents have done. This is why it is an area in which our team has invested heavily over the last 18 months and so we should reap the benefits.”
