Zanardi: “I don't feel unlucky, my life is exceptional”
Alex Zanardi talks about himself in a long interview with Sky: “I've never felt unlucky but I've always thought about what I could do with what I had left. I never thought about what I had lost but only about turning my head and seeing what was around me and thinking that every day can give us something."
“I have never been angry with life – declared the former F1 driver and Paralympic gold medalist in London – “even if I don't blame those who are angry with life for what it has taken away from them. I certainly have a lot of imagination and I see goals that others perhaps struggle to see. For me there is always a finish line, a horizon, a goal. I have been lucky enough to have many experiences, always having a goal in front of me but always managing to enjoy everyday life. I didn't get on a bicycle because I wanted to get to London and win, but I got there because I wanted to get on a bicycle."
“Today I always receive many compliments, the best perhaps from my 5-year-old nephew when once at the end of the day he confided to his dad that he wanted to do two things in life, drive a Ferrari and not have legs "like his uncle". It's something that warmed my heart. I have put together many experiences, different from each other but with a common denominator: having fun for what is needed, both in finding myself with a steering wheel in my hands, in running a paracycling race, or in doing the grueling Ironman Triathlon in Hawaii . There is always a way to make something possible that doesn't seem possible on paper. After the accident I changed my way of living, I thought that my life was not dramatic, but exceptional, different."
