Wurz on the GPDA letter: “Just one way to express our opinion”
For the Austrian there was no intention of asking for a change at the top of F1
After years of dormancy, this week the pilots finally made their voices heard by writing a letter addressed to the thinking heads of the Great Circus guilty of having damaged it through counterproductive regulatory changes.
The head of the signatories is the boss of the pilots union, the GDPA, Alexander Würz who, present at the endurance world championship tests in Le Castellet, explained the purposes of the letter-complaint.
“We just wanted to express a shared thought – the Austrian's explanation taken up by Marca – As we deeply love F1, it seemed right to make public our opposition to the path taken by those who manage the category”.
“The top flight still has a very large audience and a very important marketing platform, which is why in our opinion it should be structured in another way or rather rethought with an eye to the long term. However, it was not the intention to suggest a change at the top, nor even to invite them to overturn the sport."
