Cyril Abiteboul returns to work in the world of motorsport as the new team principal of Hyundai in World Rally Championship. The Frenchman, former head of Sports Management for Caterham and Renault in Formula 1, has taken over from Julien Moncet and will make his debut in this new adventure in the Monte Carlo event scheduled for next week.
“I took a bit of distance from automotive and motorsport, actually the appetite for the thrill of motorsport was still very strong in my blood. We had a mutual connection with Hyundai and I knew they were looking for a team principal – Abiteboul told wrc.com – We talked to each other and it was a good compromise between what Hyundai was looking for and what I was looking for too. There was a natural desire to go further, and we agreed within a few weeks."
