The Mercedes team principal talks about the rivalry between his drivers

Wolff: “Let Lewis and Nico fight is our philosophy”

Il World F1 2015 is now upon us and with the traffic lights going out the fight at home will officially be rekindled Mercedes between the reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton and his deputy Nico Rosberg.
The battle between the two continued throughout the 2014 season, animating a championship that would otherwise have had very little emotion to offer us, given the undisputed dominance of the Silver Arrows on the other colleagues on the grid.

Despite the moments of "terror" that characterized the central phase of 2014 World, where the challenge between the boxmates almost risked putting them both out of action in favor of their rivals, Toto wolff he assured that this year too Nico and Lewis will be left free to "slaughter each other" to grab the new title.

And this is also what the former world champion hopes Jacques Villeneuve, who recently said he was hopeful for another year of dominance Mercedes since, otherwise, team orders may be necessary to prevent other teams from entering the fight and trying to take advantage.

The team principal of Brackley he however clarified: to allow Hamilton e Rosberg to fight wheel to wheel is the "philosophy" of Mercedes, not a question of convenience.
“We will not change our approach on how to race the drivers. Even if it's not always easy,” he said Wolff to the news agency AFP. “For us, for our brand and for the F1 it was important to let them fight, one against the other”.

A choice that of Mercedes, also praised by the former pilot of F1 David Coulthard and in contrast to the way top teams often manage rivalry within the walls of “home”.
“I think the way they handled it was fair to both the sport and its fans,” commented the Scotsman during an interview in the sports magazine Laureus.

Who will have to watch their backs this year Lewis Hamilton, 2014 world champion and number one enemy of his teammate Rosberg, thirsty more than ever for revenge, after losing the 2014 World to the last race.
“I'm sure Nico is training even harder, studying and trying everything under the sun to make sure he finishes ahead of me,” the Briton told the press.
Last year the long-standing friendship between the two was severely tested by the fight for the title and Nico himself recently revealed that the relationship with his former karting friend is no longer what it once was.

Ma Hamilton he insists that the relationship between the two is "pretty good" at the moment. Adding: “But the season has yet to begin.”
