For the Mercedes boss, Suzuka will tell another story

Wolff: “Singapore's failure? It's the fault of the tires and the track"

After the surprise failure in Singapore with Hamilton retiring and Rosberg only fourth, perhaps comforted by a probable rematch in a handful of days at Suzuka, the boss Mercedes Toto Wolff preaches no panic.

“We have to stay calm” – his thoughts quoted by Autosport.

“I am a pessimist by nature but I really don't believe that the car has lost its potential in the space of a week nor that the competition has been able to recover a second and a half in the space of a race – he explained – A in my opinion it's the tires' fault because both Lewis and Nico reported quite high degradation, perhaps linked to the characteristics of the circuit, which is anomalous compared to the ones we usually frequent. I'm sure we will try it in Japan. In the end the car is exactly the same, so you just need to use a methodical approach and find the right balance. In fact, getting scared is of no use. It would be the wrong attitude."

Then the Austrian boss concluded on Ferrari's progress: “Already in Monza they had made some progress in terms of the engine. I also know that they will continue to develop the car in the next events, however not everything can always go smoothly. For example in Spa they were not able to get on the podium...".
