Williams: A productive first day in China
Williams drivers Pastor Maldonado and Rubens Barrichello set the 12th and 16th times in free practice for the Chinese Grand Prix. In Shanghai the Grove team brought several technical innovations.
Pastor Maldonado:
“Today went well, we learned a lot. I've done a lot of kilometres, which is helpful because this is my first time on this circuit. The car seemed good, especially on the long runs in free practice 2. We don't know where the others are or how much fuel they were running on, but I think we're in better shape here than in Malaysia."
Rubens Barrichello:
“We tested new components in today's free practice. They seem to have lost a bit of performance towards the end of the second session, which means we will have to work hard to evaluate them carefully. We need to analyze the data to understand whether it is possible to proceed according to plan or return to the original specification."
