Williams against the return of supplies
Grove management rejects Jean Todt's latest idea
The reintroduction of supplies could prove lethal for F1's image. The deputy boss supports him Williams Claire during the Autosport International.
“Manufacturers have just spent hundreds of millions building power units and touting an idea of energy efficiency that is the future of road cars, so it would be bad to go back. It would end up looking like a sport wasting petrol” – his words later supported and shared also by Grove's technical director.
“In my opinion they would remove spectacle and uncertainty – the comment of Pat symonds – Today, in fact, strategies are established during the grand prix depending on the behavior of the tires or the opponents. Going back to the old method would mean putting racing to sleep, without forgetting the safety aspect. The only plus would be the increase in speed of the single-seaters as they are lighter."
