Williams, Bottas: “We can be competitive”

Top ten for both Williams cars on the first day of Free Practice for the Italian Grand Prix, with Massa ahead of his Brazilian teammate. The Groove drivers concentrated on testing the package specially prepared for Monza, focusing on performance and testing an important number of new mechanical components. In the distance tests the FW37 did not disfigure itself and both drivers said they were comfortable with the balance of the car.

“It was a good Friday” began Bottas “the track remained dry and we managed to complete the work program without problems. We did intense set-up work, testing different aerodynamic, mechanical and suspension settings. We have collected a lot of data thanks to which we will be able to choose the best solution. Let's see how it goes, I think we can be competitive,” concluded the Finn.

“We had a positive session and I'm satisfied with the balance of the car, which isn't a bad start to the weekend – confirmed Felipe Massa. “Now we have to compare the data collected with where we think our opponents are in the lap and distance tests. I'd say the competition is tight, we just need to make sure we're ready for tomorrow."
