Williams, Bottas: “It's essential to understand what went wrong in the pit stop”

Weekend to forget for Williams on the Spa-Francorchamps track.

Despite the excellent pace shown on Friday and the third place achieved by Bottas in qualifying, both starting drivers were unable to achieve good placings on Sunday, collecting very few points on a circuit quite favorable to the FW37. Furthermore, the enormous confusion in the pits definitively compromised Bottas' race, as he left the pit lane with three soft tires and one medium.

Here are the words of Valtteri Bottas: “It was a frustrating day. I struggled at the start and then the soft tyres, in the first stint, didn't work at their best and so I lost several positions. At this point we found ourselves fighting at the back and things weren't that bad, but then the traffic made everything much more complicated."

Valtteri Bottas: “We didn't get the result we expected. We need to improve race management and pit stops, understand what didn't work in the first stop. We were hoping for a better race, but we weren't able to make the soft tires work well and this penalized us. We will try to go back to Monza."
