Williams: Still a lot of work to do for Senna and Maldonado before qualifying at Yeongam
Maldonado: "We need to analyze various problems to solve them before tomorrow"
Bruno Senna said he would have liked more track time on the first day of the Korean Grand Prix after third Williams driver Valtteri Bottas took his place in the first free practice session.
The Brazilian, who finished in 12th place, is determined to produce results in this season finale to confirm his position in the team next year.
And while he has driven at the Yeongam circuit twice before – with Lotus and HRT in previous seasons – Senna would have preferred more laps available.
“Missing the first session is not ideal, because I'm not that familiar with this track and my experience here in the last two years has been hampered by rain,” he said.
“But in the end I think we got a good idea of the direction we need to go in improving.”
“You can see that in low fuel load situations some cars are faster than others, so we need to improve on that, but I'm confident we can start the race higher up the grid.”
The Brazilian's teammate, Pastor Maldonado, closed the free practice sessions in 18th position.
“It was a difficult day today, which means we have a lot of work to do before qualifying,” said the Spanish Grand Prix winner.
“The track is quite demanding in any case, but we had some problems in the car this afternoon, which we now need to analyze in order to resolve them before tomorrow.”
