Whitmarsh: “I'm not surprised by Red Bull's dominance”

Martin Whitmarsh he is not surprised by the dominance of Red Bull, given by the driver Sebastian Vettel, but also by the great team behind it, including Adrian Newey, designer of Red Bull, but also ex-designer of McLaren.

“I'm not surprised. I know that F1 goes in cycles,” he told the official Formula One website, when asked about the dominance of a new team and the decline of a historic team like Ferrari.

“I know Adrian very well – he is doing an excellent job at Red Bull, a team with a lot of resources. If you take Sebastian for example, he only made one mistake, and that was in Canada. But if you can qualify very well, like he does, if you have the fastest car, if you are in pole position and don't make any mistakes, you can most likely win the race."

“We had two or three races where we had the fastest car, but we hadn't caught up with the Red Bulls in qualifying. Let's say we were the second fastest car in qualifying, sometimes the third, sometimes the fastest."

“We were so frustrated after Monaco – we should have won there – but we won the next race. This is how races are!”

“We have two great riders and if we can bring them to the same level as Sebastian, I'm sure we can beat him.”
