Whitmarsh does not believe Ferrari's threats to leave F1 are true
La Ferrari she is not serious when she claims and threatens to leave Formula One. This is the opinion of Martin Whitmarsh, Chairman of the FOTA.
“I've been in this sport for over 20 years and I've heard it many times,” said Martin Whitmarsh. “In all honesty, I never believed that Ferrari could leave the sport – I may be wrong, but that's my idea.”
“If you told me to take my retirement money and bet it on two teams that will definitely be here in ten years, I would bet on McLaren and Ferrari,” he said.
Whitmarsh says Ferrari's threats are often full of "passion and frustration" and certainly exaggerated by the media, but he doesn't think McLaren can make the same kind of threats.
“I think we would handle everything differently, because I don't think they're good for anyone,” he explained. “If you have a bad result, you should be more determined to have better ones in the future.”
