Whiting: “I'm a fan of DRS”

For the F1 race director it doesn't make overtaking easier

Whiting: “I'm a fan of DRS”

Charlie whiting defends the DRS and host of the event Autosport International responds to criticism on the excessive simplification of overtaking.

“I am a great supporter of this system which many believe distorts the pilot's work – he admitted – In my opinion it instead requires a lot of evaluation skill. If you exit a curve faster than those in front then the maneuver is easy, otherwise if you go at the same speed to make it the person behind must be no more than three tenths away, or if you proceed the same at the beginning of the zone When the mobile wing is opened, you find yourself side by side when braking, so the reasoning becomes quite complex”.

Then asked about the proposal to increase the possibility of using the device in racing, the Circus race director replied: "Before 2013 you could activate it as many times as you wanted both in free practice and in qualifying, then given the accidents caused by a anticipated use we decided that it was best to limit it to certain sections of the circuit".
