Webber: “A good day despite the ruined programme”

The threat of rain has upset Red Bull's plans in Canada

Webber: “A good day despite the ruined programme”

Mark Webber ended FP2 in Montreal in 12th place, about 1" behind the leader Hamilton: not a good start for the winner of Monaco, but the weekend in Canada could hold many surprises.

“It was a pretty good day”, explained the Australian from Red Bull with a serene face despite placing outside the Top Ten. “We thought there would be more variable weather, but it didn't rain: we tried the supersoft tire in the first session, and we thought it was the right thing to do, but in fact in the end it didn't rain in the second either session. The program was a bit compromised, but in the end we did everything we had to do".

Webber is optimistic about Red Bull's potential, not at all affected in the end by the ban on the use of perforated bottoms imposed by the FIA. “We're quite happy with where we are and I'm confident in the work we've done with the car, so I'm looking forward to tomorrow to move up the positions. There are some fast cars out there, but we've seen that Friday is always interlocutory. I hope to show what we are capable of tomorrow.", concluded the Australian.
