Webber: “My future depends on results”

Mark Webber has revealed that his future will be based on the results he achieves during the current season.

The 35-year-old Australian has suggested he will remain at Red Bull as long as he and the team are able to continue to deliver results that live up to expectations. “The situation depends on the results achieved this year”, Webber told the monthly magazine Autosprint. “I've been very inconsistent this year. Until the Monaco GP I hadn't even been on the podium, then I won. But in qualifying I've done very well so far. As for me, I feel like I rode great, and I don't see any difference with last year's situation. Obviously there are a lot of people who would like to come to Red Bull, but the question we have to ask ourselves is: does the team really want to change? Of course this is a question we have to ask Christian Horner, Adrian Newey, then Dietrich Mateschitz and Helmut Marko. Let's see what happens. I can only analyze what I do and so far I think I've done very well.".

If a few weeks ago there was talk of Webber joining Ferrari, the Australian is convinced that he doesn't need to go to new teams. “At the moment I don't have a contract for next year, just like this time last year and like the year before. My contracts are only valid from one season to the next, and at each expiration we never really went on the market, in the sense that in the end we always renewed with Red Bull. Let's see how it turns out, but it can be the same this year too. Here's what I mean: we don't need to go to the market because the results speak for themselves.", concluded the winner of Monte Carlo.
