Villeneuve: “I want the crazy and stupid F1 of the past back”
The Canadian is critical of the hybrid and the DRS
In a nostalgic rush Jacques Villeneuve once again pointed the finger at the Great Circus of today.
Denatured of his heroic character due to the abstruse regulations, according to the '97 world champion he could only save himself by returning to his origins.
“F1 would like to be everything and in doing so it makes a mistake. For example, it is imitating endurance when it comes to hybrid technology, so cars now weigh 100 kilos more. This means an increase in lap time by four seconds. The single-seaters on the other hand should be extreme! – the opinion of the Canadian on CNN.
“In my opinion the Circus is a laboratory where the sky is the limit. I would therefore like to see him as crazy and stupid as he was years ago, and above all without overtaking tricks like the DRS!" – She added.
Then speaking about his brief adventure in Formula E with the Venturi team which lasted three races, Gilles' son said: "Some have called me a traitor because I am against this type of car, but in the end it is a category that has no nothing to do with the top flight. It is not possible to compare an electric car to a petrol one with a much higher number of horsepower".
