Villeneuve against the GPDA initiative: "It's dangerous to ask the fans"

Although the survey was greeted with great enthusiasm by professionals and enthusiasts, Jacques Villeneuve was not at all pleased with the GPDA's decision to listen to the opinion of the fans who follow the Formula 1 Grands Prix: "It is dangerous to ask the fans, it can't work this way – commented the 1997 world champion to his Autosport colleagues – Knowing what you need is very complex, you can't come up with an idea in five seconds. Personally I think Formula 1 should stop trying to attract more fans and to focus on those he already has."

According to the former Williams and Bar driver, the Circus should improve the show by always bringing cars to the track more difficult to drive: “Currently we have a lot of overtaking but people still get bored. What we are missing is having a car that can barely be driven 10 pilots in the world, while the remaining 10 simply survive – he continued – Formula 1 should be the end of everything, as it has always been”.
