F1 | Villeneuve: “Bottas is too slow, and he shouldn't have moved to the right”

As often happens, Jacques Villeneuve goes against the grain. The 1 F1997 world champion commented on what happened in Imola between George Russell and Valtteri Bottas, namely the bad collision at Tamburello actually caused by the English driver losing control of the car, who crashed into the Finn of Mercedes.

According to Villeneuve, however, the young Englishman from Williams is not to blame, instead blaming Bottas who would have moved slightly to the right in dangerous track conditions.

“I didn't understand why Toto Wolff took it out on Russell - Jacques told F1-Insider.com - Why blame the English driver? Bottas moved to the right albeit slightly, and in such difficult track conditions he shouldn't have done so. This shows how tense the Finnish driver is already at only the second race of the season. And things aren't going to get any better for him, because he's just too slow. If he had been faster, he wouldn't have found himself battling with a Williams."
